Frank attended conferences with Hurd and Sears in Sandwich where he made a presentation about Village Improvement. Today I attended two lectures one of a new approach to Landscape Heritage and another more classic cultural landscape, which especially resonated with our Harvard colleagues. For whatever reason, I do not feel a connection at least to the latter….maybe that is just my Brown background speaking to me.

Frank saw the “Girl on the Train” at the Colonial Theater in Boston with Professors Sears and Hurd. Today I noticed that our San Francisco group raised over $124,000 for the Japan diaster and Austin over $12, 700. I helped in a small way to contribute to the sales with origami cards and a donation.

Frank is back to work after his trip, and so am I. Despite his headache he got a lot done. Despite my jet lag I have already gotten plenty done, and it is still morning. I turned in a small grant proposal to Draper Hall, home of our Dean’s Office. In Frank’s time this same building served as the dining commons.

Frank arrived home today after his visit to Oklahoma. I arrived home today close to 1 am after attending the CELA conference in LA. Lots of work to catch up with, but at least the snow from the earlier storm has all melted. It felt really good to land at the Bradley Airport!

Frank ate chili con carne on his trip home from Oklahoma. While I had much less exciting fare on my way home from Los Angeles in the Charlotte terminal with a plain old roast beef sandwich that was actually awfully bad. At least all the flights were on time.

Frank is starting for home today. Well, today I presented my paper and hung my poster at CELA in LA. We had a lovely dinner later at Cafe Pinot in the open air that evening. Lovely dinner

and company. It was a refreshing change from the hotel world of so many paper presentations at the Sheraton.

Frank is visiting, calling on friends. I have checked in to the conference, but am really tired with jetlag. This is my son’s birthday. For the first time I am not able to celebrate a birthday with him since I am at the conference in LA. Funny, I feel a bit insignificant, forgotten and overlooked here at CELA. When my son was born I was actually their president.
