Thanks to the generous support from the National Science Foundation, there will be a total of $6,000 in support for AFLA 31 for eligible US-based students, as well as to students at institutions outside of the U.S., to (partially) support the travel for attending the conference. There will be 8-20 travel grants awarded.
To be eligible for the travel grant, the applicant must:
- Be an undergrad or a graduate student
- Be accepted to present a talk or a poster at AFLA 31
- Submit this application by April 5, 2024
- Register for the conference by May 15, 2024
- Furnish a supporting statement from the advisor/department chair confirming the student’s status, recommending their attendance, and describing the availability of travel funds. This should be emailed by the advisor/department chair to afla31@umass.edu with your name in the subject line by April 5, 2024. (Note: vague statements such as “funds are tight” are not informative).
We will be offering the following grants:
- a maximum stipend of $400 for regional travel (under 1000 miles)
- a maximum stipend of $800 for travel over 1000 miles.
Priority will be given to scholars who do not have other access to funding. Note that only one travel grant will be awarded per talk/poster.
Please fill out the travel grant application. Note that submitting this form does not guarantee funding.
