President: Varuna Desai

Varuna is a Senior majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her favorite food is Indian Street food, and she wants to backpack through all the countries in Europe one day. Outside the club, she enjoys playing badminton, shooting pictures, and trying new recipes while watching her favorite TV shows. Her favorite thing about UMass AGC is everything! From the community to the events to interacting with you AGC members!

Vice President: Tom Toscano

Tom is a senior majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an interest in Structural Engineering, sadly leaving us this year in 2024. He has a dream to one day visit Germany and hopefully get a fill of steak, his favorite food while there. Outside of the club, Tom likes to read history books. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is the site tours, allowing him to see the process of the buildings being put up!

Secretary: Sean McDonough

Sean is a senior majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on the Environmental side of Engineering, Sadly Sean will also be leaving us this year in 2024. Sean’s favorite food is Salmon with any sort of toppings, but specifically spinach and cheese. One day he hopes to visit any part of Japan. Outside of the AGC Sean loves to hike and generally explore the outdoors. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is seeing construction sites of future campus buildings and the club hikes!

BCT Representative: Felix Agbo

Felix is a junior majoring in Building and Construction Technology with an art minor. His favorite food is chicken parmesan. One place Felix hopes to visit is Florence, Italy. Some things Felix does for fun outside of the club are driving buses, listening to music, and solving puzzles. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is the sense of community and collaboration among members!

CEE Representative: Wilson Zheng

Wilson is a Sophomore majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His favorite food is sushi and one day hopes to visit Australia. Outside of the club he likes to watch football and basketball. Wilson’s favorite thing about UMass AGC is getting to meet and talk with students who are also interested in construction!

Tarek El Aouji

Tarek is a senior majoring in Building and Construction Technology. His favorite food is Salmon and one place he hopes to visit is Beirut. Outside of the club he likes to do social work as he is a very hard worker. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is meeting people who are passionate about construction, going on site tours, and getting connected to important members of the construction industry!

Xander Miller

Xander is a Junior majoring in Building and Construction Technology. One place Xander would like to visit would be Switzerland where he can hopefully eat a lot of steak which is his favorite food. Outside of club activities he likes to skateboard and play video games. His favorite things about the club are the people and the opportunities we get as a club, from the connections to the site tours!

Teresa Rodrigues

Teresa is a sophomore majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her favorite food is soup and one day hopes to visit Morocco. Outside of the club, you can find her reading and hiking. Her favorite things about the club are how amazing the community is and how connected they are, she also enjoys going on the site tours!

Rui Brito

Rui is a sophomore majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His favorite food is chicken and dreams of one day visiting Bali. Some things he does in his free time outside of club activities are playing video games, playing soccer, and weightlifting. His favorite thing about the AGC is the community where everyone’s voice feels welcome!

Charlotte Kennedy

Charlotte is a sophomore majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She one-day dreams of visiting Argentina. Her favorite food is a burrito. Outside of club activities, you can find her skiing and playing her guitar. Her favorite things about the club are the site tours and connecting with new people on the tours!

Morgan Johnsen

Morgan is a sophomore majoring in Building and Construction Technology. His favorite food is Sandwiches from the specific shop “7 Subs”. One day he would like to visit Australia. His favorite things to do outside of club activities are playing trading card games and weightlifting. His favorite thing about the club is all the amazing ideas the people in the club come together to create!

Dr. Zachary Westgate

Civil and Environmental Engineering

Westgate graduated from university about 20 years ago with a degree in Geotechnical engineering focusing on mainly foundations and offshore geotechnics. His favorite places to be are the beach, in the woods, or being home after a long time away. He feels the most happy when he’s able to see his teenage daughter smile! Something he enjoys outside of AGC is fighting a constant battle to keep up his 230 year old house and barn. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is the enthusiasm and energy of the students!

Professor Fernando Romero

Building and Construction Technology

Romero graduated university in 1985 majoring in Civil Engineering. He’s been a professor since 2010, with research interests in construction project management. Traveling around the world makes him happy. He would not mind being lost in Tokyo – Japan and Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. Outside of AGC he enjoys going to the gym and biking. His favorite thing about UMass AGC is the interaction with the students.
