Continuing In the Program Requires:
- Passing a physical examination and physical fitness requirements
- Maintaining height/weight standards
- Passing the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test
- Successfully completing field training between your Sophomore and Junior year
- Maintaining requisite GPA standards
- Earning a C- or better in any Aerospace Studies Course, and passing all Leadership Labs
- Receiving an allocation slot in the Professional Officer Course
- Holding US citizenship prior to entering into the Professional Officer Course
Yearly Requirements:
- Freshman: Air Force Heritage & Values 1 & 2 (AS111/AS112)
- Sophomore: Team & Leadership Fundamentals 1 & 2 (AS223/AS224)
- Junior: Leading People & Effective Communication 1 & 2 (AS335/AS336)
- Senior: National Security & Prep/Active Duty 1 & 2 (AS441/AS442)
- Leadership Laboratory – held most weeks throughout the academic year based on the host university’s academic calendar
- Advanced Physical Conditioning – held most weeks throughout the academic year based on the host university’s academic calendar (AS191A)
UMass AFROTC is Open to Students Enrolled at Nearby Area Schools
Cadets of Detachment 370 can choose from many area colleges and universities to obtain their degrees. While AFROTC classes are held on the UMass Amherst campus, students attend the remainder of their classes at their chosen school. Students are not required to attend UMass to participate in the AFROTC program.
