John Sabatini is a Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Memphis in the Department of Psychology and the Institute for Intelligent Systems. Previously, he held a position as Principal Research Scientist at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ. His research spans reading literacy development and disabilities, assessment, cognitive psychology, and educational technology, focusing primarily on adults and adolescents. Dr. Sabatini has led projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences to develop K-12 comprehension assessments and adapt them for adult education. He has also contributed significantly to studies on reading disabilities and the effectiveness of reading programs, supported by NICHD and other grants. Dr. Sabatini has edited volumes on reading comprehension assessment and served as co-editor for special journal issues on adult literacy. He provides research guidance to national and international surveys, including PIAAC, PISA, NAEP, and NAAL
