A Beach Day

My niece Amelia had graduation practice in town, which is to say, Honolulu, this morning, so Marti, my niece Miranda, and I decided to make it a beach day.  We packed some snacks, slathered on the sunscreen, and headed for Kailua Beach.  The day was hot, but fairly cloudy, and the trade winds blew strongly.  Marti swam out to the island, while Miranda and I lay on our beach towels and read and drowsed.  When we’d had enough of hazy sun and fun, we made our way back home to Kaneohe, stopping briefly in the parking lot at a nearby beach, but it was full, so we drove on.
