A Day in Norfolk

Itinerary

Observations

  • Norfolk is the world headquarters of the animal rights organization PETA.
  • The extent of commercial shipping and military activity in the harbor is staggering.
  • The cruise ship captain bombarded us with statistics which I won’t attempt to summarize.
  • One procedure he mentioned that I had never heard of is “de-magnetizing” a ship.
  • As you can see from the photos below, I was really impressed by the cranes!
  • There is no admission charge to the centrally-located Chrysler Art Museum.
  • The Museum’s collection is impressive and a must-see for glass aficionados.
  • The self-guided Native Tree Trail is easy to follow and presents interesting tree facts.
