Observations
- The fate of the Lost Colony settlers is still unknown.
- Roanoke Island was the site of the Freedmen’s Colony during Civil War times.
- Sculpted by a woman, the Virginia Dare statue has had a troubled history.
- The hang-gliding competition at Jockey’s Ridge was postponed due to high winds.
- I didn’t see any animal tracks along the nature trail, though we did see birds.
- The water in the outdoor pool at the time-share was cold!
