CWPA Women’s Eastern Championship

Third seed University of Maryland beat sixth seed Bucknell on Friday, 15-11, in Game 4 of the Women’s Eastern Championship meet held at the Harvard University pool.  Maryland was then matched against second seed Michigan, who had beaten Princeton in Game 3.

Game 8 began at 5:30 yesterday at Blodgett Pool, and after four hard-fought quarters, the Wolverines came out on top, 9-8. I sat with my friends Paulette and Phil, whose daughter Elizabeth, a senior at Maryland, played the entire game in the Utility position. We cheered the team as energetically as we could, but in the end, the Terrapins were down by 1.

Maryland did beat Brown this afternoon, 12-8, to capture third place in the tournament.  If you’d like to read more about the matches, please visit the University of Maryland website.

Here are some pictures I took of the Maryland-Michigan game and then the Maryland team.  Sure wish I could get that zoom working on my camera.
