Family

My wife, Margi Caplan, served for many years as the Membership and Marketing Director at the Smith College Museum of Art prior to retiring in 2021. She is active in local progressive movements. She is a former dancer, a dog lover, and an avid hiker and swimmer.

My daughter, Nora Caplan-Bricker, is currently an online editor at the New York Review of Books. Previously, she was the executive editor at Jewish Currents. She is also a free lance journalist, essayist, and critic whose work has appeared in the Washington Post magazine, the New Yorker online, the Atlantic, the Nation, Harpers, Outside, the Point, and many more. She graduated from Yale University in 2012 and completed an MFA at Emerson College in 2018. Her husband, Thomas Stackpole, is a senior editor at Harvard Business Review. Their son, Simon Caplan-Stackpole, was born on June 14, 2025.

My son, Adam Caplan-Bricker, graduated from Boston University Law School in 2025 and is currently clerking on the Massachusetts Court of Appeals under Justice Gloria Tan. He has published in law journals in family law and health law. He graduated from MIT in 2016, majoring in mathematics and music.
