PhD candidate at the College of Nursing, University of Massachusetts Amherst

I am a registered nurse and a midwife. Prior to joining the PhD program at Umass, I worked in different hospital Units of the obstetrics and Gynecology department in Tanzania since 2012. I am interested in exploring clinical and community strategies to improve neonatal and maternal outcomes in resource limited settings. Currently, I am working on Dr. Briere’s research project looking at the effect of maternal sleep loss and deprivation on human breast milk composition. We are doing a narrative review to understand the postpartum sleep patterns of mothers within the first year after birth and looking at how sleep loss and resulting sleep deprivation affect the composition of breast milk produced.
