CHAMBER CHOIR
Chamber Choir is the most advanced choral ensemble in the Department of Music & Dance. The choir includes music majors, minors, and liberal arts students with a passion for choral music and previous ensemble experience. We believe in the power of the choral art to open hearts, change minds, and offer respite. We prepare for performances on- and off-campus in the pursuit of personal growth, collective responsibility, and community care. We understand that the power of choral music is not in the performances only, but in the consistent and ongoing practice of showing up for one another in rehearsals. Whatever your musical and/or vocal background, you are here because you were accepted into this ensemble and I believe you will make meaningful contributions. You belong here!

Dr. Pope runs rehearsals in a masterclass setting, with student conductors receiving podium time every week. Singers who wish to learn more about the art of conducting and how to train voices will find this class to be illuminating and fun. The ensemble performs during class time 3–4 times per semester, under the direction of the student conductors. We highly encourage music education majors and anyone else interested in leading an ensemble to enroll. The ability to read music or learn music quickly is essential.
