Cowell – Computational Memory and Perception

The Computational Memory and Perception (cMAP) Lab is directed by Rosie Cowell. We are interested in the neural and cognitive mechanisms of visual perception and memory in the human brain. We also investigate how these functions are disrupted by brain damage. We use computational models, fMRI and studies of humans with brain damage. Our research asks questions such as: Are there common mechanisms for perceiving objects, faces and scenes? Do amnesic patients have problems with higher-order perception, as well as with memory?
