Florence Sullivan‘s research group focuses on microgenetic analysis of collaborative learning processes students engage in while using computational media. We utilize interaction analysis and discourse analytic techniques to investigate student reasoning, heuristic and algorithmic development, as well as social aspects of student interaction that bear on learning. Moreover, we are working on computational methods that will allow us to more efficiently perform the temporal analysis key to microgenetic methods. Such methods will allow us to handle larger data sets and expand the scope of our findings.
