Evander reflects on the role that negative perceptions about his community played in his self-image and the path he chose growing up. He regrets letting his passion for basketball drift away because of the overwhelming sense of doubt that surrounded him. He shares his thoughts on the importance of peer support and positive mentorship for the youth of Holyoke.
