The Physics Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work with Prof. Christian Santangelo on the theory of elasticity of thin sheets. The project entails developing computational tools and performing analytical calculations to understand the mechanics of origami structures. The postdoc will be expected to interact closely with experimental groups, mathematicians and artists. The initial appointment is for one year, with the expectation of an extension.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Math, or a related field and have an outstanding academic record as evidenced by a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
