I’m ready to attend virtual CUNY’s poster session. What now?

Our poster presenters are hard at work adding their posters, brief video presentations, and transcripts so you can see their CUNY work. You’re looking forward to engaging with their work. How do you do this? Here’s the key information.

Poster session hours

It is difficult to simulate the live poster atmosphere that our physical conference would have had. We would like to mimic this to the extent possible, however. Therefore, for each day of the conference we will hold live poster session hours from 12 – 2PM EDT.  These hours work for many, but not all, of our attendees’ time zones; your poster presenter may give alternative hours they will make themselves available to interact.

During poster sessions, we encourage you to:

  • Visit the posters you are interested in on the CUNY OSF respository during that poster session.
  • Leave comments, and ask questions, watch videos, and download posters!
  • Tweet about posters you are watching and have thoughts about, using the #CUNY2020 hashtag.
  • Be generous with your time and attention. Our presenters have worked hard, and are eagerly awaiting feedback. It’s all too easy to overlook good posters when you’re not physically present in our poster space, so please consider engaging more proactively than you might otherwise.
  • If you are having difficulty, please email cunyumass@gmail.com and we will help you get engaged.

Finding posters

The posters can be found at our CUNY OSF Repository. On this link, you will see a list of the poster presentations at CUNY. It will look something like this (but with more posters, for sure!):

Each row in this view is a poster. You may find posters by searching using the search bar at top, or by scrolling.

Each poster link will have minimally i) a PDF copy of the poster and ii) a brief video with a presentation. Here is what the project page for a poster will look like when you click through:

Getting an OSF account

You will not need an OSF account to download posters or videos. But you will need one if you would like to leave comments. If you have emailed us to upload a poster, you will have an OSF account automatically created for the email address you used to send your poster.

Otherwise, you will need to register for an OSF account. You may do that here.

Interaction through OSF comments

You may use the OSF comment functionality as a way to have public, open conversations about the research that the presenter and your colleagues can all participate in. Comments on OSF and all interactions are subject to the CUNY code of conduct

You may leave a comment on an OSF presentation by clicking on the speech bubble icon in the upper right-hand corner of the OSF project page:

Your presenter will have the chance to respond; presenters have been asked to be present and to respond to comments in real-time during their assigned poster session.

At their discretion, the poster presenter may offer other alternative ways of contacting them during the poster session (e.g. chat over Skype or similar). If there are other such ways, the poster presenter will indicate this in the abstract.
