Elizabeth Boulton

Elizabeth Boulton

Elizabeth Boulton recently graduated from Yale University with her PhD in physics. She was part of the Large Underground Xenon experiment, which seeks to directly detect dark matter using liquid xenon as the detector target material. She built and maintained critical systems for the LUX detector. She also performed several analyses on the large volume of LUX data.

Outside of research, Elizabeth was a graduate fellow at the Yale Center for Teaching and Learning, a teaching fellow for several intro-level physics courses, and a board member of Women in Science at Yale (WISAY). In her roles as graduate fellow and teaching fellow, Elizabeth assisted professors in transitioning several courses from traditional lecture-style to a more interactive, problem-solving based style. While working with WISAY, Elizabeth ran mentoring programs for hundreds of women, as well organized networking events and workshops. Prior to attending Yale University, Elizabeth received a BA in Physics from Smith College and was a Fulbright Scholar in Darmstadt, Germany.
