Bush league politics

Bush is quoted telling Latin American reporters, “I go a lot of places and there are street rallies. And my attitude is, I love freedom and the right for people to express themselves.” ("Visit by Bush Fires Up Latins’ Debate Over Socialism," The New York Times (9 March 2007)

Why, then, does he berate domestic protest of his policies as "unpatriotic"?

I graduated from Bates College in 1965 and Yale Law School in 1968. I was an attorney with Dinébe’iiná Náhiiłna be Agha’diit’ahii Navajo Legal Services until 1970, when I joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, where I taught about Indigenous Peoples' legal issues.
