The links below provide details on earlier research, including publications, images, and access to data. Efforts are underway to make all data from these projects available from a common website at UMass Amherst. In the meantime, please contact me concerning data access.
- Hazen Plateau, Ellesmere Island (Nunavut, Canada) – We studied interactions between snow/ice-covered sites and snow-free tundra on the Hazen Plateau, an extensive upland region of the High Arctic. Automated Weather Stations (AWS) at ~1,000 m elevation operated 1999-2001, with one on tundra and two on Murray Icecap. Collaborative research with Ray Bradley & Carsten Braun.
- Sajama and Illimani, Bolivia – Climate and snow research at high elevation in the Andes. AWS operated near the Sajama ice-coring site (6,542 m) 1996-2000. Collaborative with Mathias Vuille, Carsten Braun & others.
- Paleoclimatic Reconstruction from High Resolution Arctic Lake Sediments – Collaborative research into climate and hydrological processes associated with varved sedimentation in the High Arctic (Lake C2, Lake Tuborg, and Lake Sophia).
- Taconite Inlet, Ellesmere Island north coast – Collaborative research to understand the climatic signal of varved sediments in a High Arctic meromictic lake. My work focused on contemporary climate, as well as hydrological and sediment transport processes operating in the watershed. AWS operated seasonally at sea level and 520 m, 1990-92.
