Disability and Family

In this line of research, we focus on the impact of raising a child with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) on parent and family well-being, as well as the impact of family processes on the social-emotional development of people with IDD over the life course.

Disability Awareness and Understanding

In this line of research, we seek to better understand mental models of disability and neurodiversity. We are particularly interested in the mental models of a) parents of recently diagnosed autistic children and b) students who plan to pursue a career in disability services or health care.

Disability and Higher Education

In this line of research, we are interested in the experience of students with disabilities, including both traditionally enrolled students as well as students with IDD participating in higher education through dual enrollment programs. We are also interested in the perspectives of non-disabled students and faculty, as these can impact disabled students’ experiences.
