October 19: Professor Erich Jarvis
Dr. Erich Jarvis is a professor at The Rockefeller University studying the neurobiology of vocal learning in songbirds.
10 am (via Zoom) – Discussion “Surviving and thriving as an under-represented minority scientist in a majority environment.”
4 pm (via Zoom) – Science Talk “Evolution of brain pathways for vocal learning and speech.”
7 pm – Dr. Jarvis will participate in an interdisciplinary discussion hosted by the UMass Fine Arts Center as part of the “Bodies at Risk” exhibit.

Dr. Jessica Ware is an assistant curator of invertebrate zoology at the American Museum of Natural History. Her research focuses on the evolution of behavioral and physiological adaptations in insects.
