Upcoming Events

The Breathing While Black Digital Exhibit at the UMass Fine Arts Center will be running from September 1 – November 20. The opening reception starts on September 1 at 6 pm. More information and tickets for the opening are available here.


On July 2, the Society for Neuroscience hosted a webinar called, “Black Lives Matter and Neuroscience: Why This Moment Matters.” On September 4 at 1 pm, they will be resuming this discussion in their event, “Black Lives Matter and Neuroscience: Continuing the Conversation.” Register for the event here.


SABER is hosting a 7-part series on racial justice in academia running from August to December. A recording from the first discussion with Dr. David Asai, titled Race REALLY matters, is available online here. The next event, Actionable steps toward equity in STEM with Drs. Starlette Sharp and John Matsui, will be held on September 10 at 12 pm Central. That discussion and the additional upcoming events are available here.

2020 Virtual March on Washington

The 2020 Virtual March on Washington will start Thursday, August 27 with music, reflections, and panels and will conclude on Friday, August 28 with major keynote addresses and musical guests. UMass Amherst Afro-American Studies Professor Dr. John H. Bracey, Jr. will be interviewed by podcast host Jonathan Kermah (UMass Class of 2020) on Friday, August 28 at 10 am. Upcoming Event

Register and join the public workshop on Racial Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Neuroscience Training hosted by The National Academy of Sciences as part of the Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders. The event is on August 20, from 12-2pm (EDT). Register for the event here.
