Adam Abdi, our REU student of 2025, just did an excellent job in his poster presentation. Adams has been working on Estimating Power Outages in Ghana to Inform Power System Modeling with Faustina and Dr. Baker this summer.

Christian just accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering, Analytics and Engineering Management at California State University – East Bay (CSUEB), School of Engineering!
Chris is from Puerto Rico where he obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering and B.S. in Land Surveying and Topography from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He earned a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the same institution. His interest is interdisciplinary research in renewable energy and decision science field focused on the technological change of power/energy and water systems.

Congratulations! Vivian received the 2025 College of Engineering Celebrating Community Award for outstanding contributions at the student level. This award recognizes individuals contributions towards building a supportive and engaged engineering community both within and outside of the university, especially those that go above and beyond their scholarly work.

REU student Emma Soto presenting her project on Electrifying Heat and Grid Integration, July 2022:
This project looks at optimizing the use of hydronic heat pumps and hot water buffer tanks to shift the demand of electricity to more closely match renewable energy’s availability and reduce peaks and ramps in demand.
