At UMass Amherst, Senior Design Project provides a capstone experience for undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Students work in teams of 3-4 students in this year long course sequence to design and prototype a system of their choice. Each team is advised by an ECE faculty member and projects undergo four formal reviews. Learning goals include exposure to the engineering design process (problem statement, goals and specifications), technical design, constraints and tradeoffs, prototyping, team work, documentation and presentation skills.
