Mergent Horizon and Mergent Intellect on Trial

Mergent Horizon is another source of financials for public companies actively traded on AMEX, NYSE, and NASDAQ. Companies are put in hierarchies of industries, competitors, suppliers, partners, customers and more. You can search by ticker symbol or company name or browse by industry sector. A calendar displays company stock events. You can find detailed financial analysis and generate reports of sectors, portfolios, competitors by product or merger and acquisition scenarios.

Mergent Intellect is a searchable directory of global private and public companies, employers, executives, and personal and business residences. You can search by company type, location type, name or ticker symbol.

Trial for Freedonia Focus Collection of Market Research Reports

Freedonia Focus Collection offers over 600 research reports covering 18 industries in the United States and international markets. You can browse by industry or by date published, or search by title, date, global region and NAICS code. Reports cover market size, historical and forecasted demand by product and markets, and profiles of the market leading companies.

Trial for Data-Planet

The Libraries now have a trial for Data-Planet, a searchable collection of 90+ billion, officially sourced data sets covering 16 subject areas. Statistical data from organizations such as United Nations Economic Commission of Europe, international stock exchanges, the International Monetary Fund, and many U.S. Government organizations is standardized and organized for discovery by subject, date, geography, source organization, title and more. Subjects include food & agriculture, housing & construction, prices, consumption & cost of living, energy resources & industries, and others. You can view the data sets by geographical mapping, ranking,  and time series. The data can be viewed, downloaded or printed. Each data set has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Trial for ProQuest History Vault

The ProQuest History Vault is on trial through May 15th, 2013. It includes collections from University Publications of America covering the Vietnam War and American Foreign Policy 1960-1975, NAACP Papers, Immigration Records of the INS 1880-1930, Women’s Studies Manuscript Collections from the Schlesinger Library, and more. You can search across collections or within individual papers, and browse by event or collection. You can select predefined searches and narrow by subject, geography, person, organization and other facets.

Trial for Index to Printed Music

Check out the Index to Printed Music to find over 425,000 individual pieces of music written between now and ancient Greek times and published in scholarly sources. Indexing includes collection, composer, genre, language, publication year and more. This index is available on the Ebscohost interface.

Trial for British Records on the Atlantic World, 1700-1900

The Libraries have a trial for British Records on the Atlantic World, 1700-1900 through March 31st, 2013. This database includes fourteen eclectic collections of correspondence, meeting minutes, journals, business records, legal documents, etc. on subjects from the West Indies to the slave trade, West African missionaries and trade, Walt Whitman and more.

Trials Gone By

Last fall the Libraries had trial access to Silent Film Online, a database of streaming silent features, serials and shorts from the 1890’s through 1930’s, and Gallup Brain, a collection of 70 years of Gallup Poll survey results.
