SimplyMap: Creating maps of selected data sets

SimplyMap allows you to create maps which illustrate economic and demographic variables using data from the 1980, 1990 and 2000 census as well as business and marketing reports. You can look at data on  state, county or city level maps, and export both the image and the data.

LexisNexis Congressional,  an important new addition to our database holdings, covers committee rosters and general information for the current Congress; committee schedules since 1996; committee hearings since 1824; committee prints since 1830; Congressional Record since 1985; Congresssional Research Service Reports since 1916; laws, bills and legislative histories since 1789; Regulations since 1980; and much more.

The Encyclopedia of Associations: regional, state and local organizations, 22nd edition is a directory of organizations which function at different levels of society across the United States. Entries include mailing address, phone number, email address, web site, contact name, subject, affiliation, regional section and source information.

Two new reference directories: Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans and Statistical Sources

The Libraries have added two sources from the Gale Directory Library. Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans provides information on financial aid for education from non-governmental sources. Statistics Sources lists where you can find statistical information on 20,000 topics. You can perform simple keyword or advanced searches by name or geographic area.

Monthly Catalog of United States Government Publications, 1895-1976

The Monthly Catalog of United States Government Publications, 1895-1976 provides enhanced access to historical government information. Issued each month by the Superintendent of Documents for the Government Printing Office, the Catalog lists all government publications and provides both full-text records and page images of the original catalog.

Trial of LexisNexis Congressional

LexisNexis Congressional provides a comprehensive record of all Senate and House committee hearings, prints,  documents and reports since 1970. You can search for legislative histories, bills and laws, and look up committee memberships in both chambers. LexisNexis Congressional also includes the daily Congressional record and rules.

Films on Demand Now on Trial

Films On Demand, Humanities & Social Science Collection is a web-based service providing access to educational streaming video titles from Films Media Group. This collection includes over 3,800 titles.

Contact the Reference and Research Assistance Desk, 413-545-0150, for the username and password to gain access. Please send comments to Thomas Paige, 413-577-2103. Database trial ends 4/1/10.

COS Funding Opportunities

The Office of Research Administration subscribes to COS, including the Funding Opportunities database. You can search by keyword or sponsor and limit by geographic location, sponsor type, deadline, amount and numerous other criteria. The database includes financial resources offered by non-profit, commercial, academic and public agencies around the world.
