GreenFILE: New Resource for Environmental Studies

GreenFILE covers multidisciplinary research on the interaction between humans and the natural environment, including the topics of green building, pollution, recycling, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. It offers abstracts and indexing for scholarly, government and general interest publications, as well as full-text for open access titles.

Trial Access to Historical Black Newspapers

The Libraries now have trial access to Atlanta Daily World (1931-2003); Los Angeles Sentinel (1934-2005); New York Amsterdam News (1922-1993); Pittsburgh Courier (1911-2002). These newspapers can be searched together as Historical Black Newspapers.

The Libraries have an existing subscription to the Chicago Defender, also classified as a historical black newspaper, through its Black Studies Center database.

Brief Accounts of World Events Since 1940

The Facts on File World News Digest is now available online. In addition to searching for news briefs by keywords and dates, you can also browse the international tops stories by decade or year. Special features, such as newsmaker profiles, an Iraq war coverage guide, and a 2008 Presidential election guide, offer other means of retrieving news. World press links take you to the web versions of newspapers in countries from Andorra to Jamaica to Zimbabwe.
