Independent Investment Information through Value Line Investment Survey

The Libraries recently added the online version of Value Line Investment Survey to our electronic reference collections. The Survey database includes weekly issues of reports from both the Standard and Small & Mid-Cap editions. Reports include financials, ranking, projections, business profile, and commentary. You can search or browse for reports by ticker symbol, company name or industry; browse rankings; screen stocks by multiple critieria, including timeliness or performance, social responsibility, financial strength, etc.; and generate custom reports.

CQ Weekly Online Now Available Back to 1983

The UMass Amherst Libraries have added CQ Weekly to our electronic collections. This authoritative and essential source for news and analysis about the business of the U.S. Congress is now available online back to 1983. You can search by topic, page number, committee, “exact phrases or words,” bill number, byline or reporter and by Boolean full-text and date searches, or browse articles and floor votes by topic and date.

Foreign firms here and American firms there

The library has added two directories, American Firms Operating in Foreign Countries and Foreign Firms Operating in the United States, to the online collections. Both directories can be searched by country, state, keyword, industry code, revenue and number of employees, and more. You can display, print or download search results. Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science

Published by Morgan & Claypool, the Synthesis Digital Library collects peer-reviewed and authoritative reports and lectures on important research and new developments in the fields of engineering and computer science. This collection includes 100 current reports and lectures.

New Databases from the Roper Center for Public Opinion Archives

The UMass Amherst Libraries have added two new resources from the Roper Center for Public Opinion Archives. RoperExpress offers on demand access to datasets from archived public opinion surveys, and iPOLL provides 500,000 questions and answers gathered from surveys conducted in the United States since 1935. A UMass Amherst email address is required to login to these resources.

Brief Accounts of World Events Since 1940

The Facts on File World News Digest is now available online. In addition to searching for news briefs by keywords and dates, you can also browse the international tops stories by decade or year. Special features, such as newsmaker profiles, an Iraq war coverage guide, and a 2008 Presidential election guide, offer other means of retrieving news. World press links take you to the web versions of newspapers in countries from Andorra to Jamaica to Zimbabwe. And if you’d like to revisit that assignment to find out what was happening in the world on your birth date or birth year, here’s another source.

Gale Directory of Publications and Broadcast Media – New Online Edition

The Gale Directory of Publications and Broadcast Media has been an essential reference source in our print collection. Now available online, this directory provides international coverage of radio and television stations (including cable), newspapers, magazines, and journals. Listings include ad rates, circulation statistics, key personnel and web site links. This is the 2007 (42nd) edition.
