New Business Sources Available from Mergent Online

The Libraries have added the following sources to our Mergent Online subscription:

  • Mergent Global Industry Reports.  Current forty-page industry reports, by region, by country (click the Report Tab to view the collection).
  • Mergent Equity Pricing. Thirty years of daily equity prices for all public companies worldwide. Define any time period, visualize with charts. Compare two or more companies or compare a company’s performance to index performance.
  • D&B Private Company Reports. D&B profiles of 1.1 million private companies worldwide.
  • D&B Private Company Directory. Directory of 20 million private companies worldwide.

New Design Database: designinform

designinform includes Design Abstracts Retrospective with indexing and abstracts for design journals published between 1906-1986; Design  ProFILES, a biographical dictionary of designers, craftspeople, artists and architects; and ReVIEW, a collection of full-text art journals from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You can search each of these databases independently by keyword, or title, country, author, etc.

Encyclopedia of Geography Added

The Libraries now have the Encyclopedia of Geography online from Sage Reference. You can search for terms or browse through thematic entries covering physical geography; human geography; nature and society; methods, models and GIS; history of geography; and people, organizations and movements. The 1,127 entries include graphs, images and maps, and each entry has a further readings section.

Black Abolitionist Papers, 1830-1865 Added

The Libraries have purchased access to a database, Black Abolitionist Papers 1830-1865 from ProQuest. This collection of primary source materials includes correspondence of major African American leaders; speeches, sermons, and lectures; articles, essays, editorials, and other major writings from more than 200 African American, abolitionist, and reform newspapers; and receipts, poems, and other miscellaneous documents. Geographic coverage is Canada, the United States and the British Isles. To access the papers, you can browse or search by document type, title, source, location and date.

New Music Sources Added

RIPM Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals, Plus Full-Text Online Archive and LibraryMusicSource have been added to the collections. RIPM+Online Archive provides indexing and content analysis of writings about music and culture between 1800-1950 in periodicals from 20 countries. The added online archive component includes primary source materials. LibraryMusicSource has partial and complete scores from over 35,000 classical works. You can browse by instrument or composer, or conduct a keyword search. Scores can be downloaded or printed.

Social Explorer Now Available

The Libraries now have a subscription for Social Explorer, a database with historical census data and demographic information from the 1790-2000 U.S. Censuses, American Community Survey, the Religious Congregations and Membership Study, and the 2002 Carbon Emissions Data from the Vulcan Project. You can select data and generate maps to display it, or read the information in report form.

Encyclopedia of Political Theory Added

The Libraries have recently acquired the electronic version of the Encyclopedia of Political Theory. This reference work has 475 articles about theorists, schools, concepts and topics. You can browse these articles by thematic category, an A-Z list of entries, or subject index. You can also search the text, or the title, contributor or further readings fields.
