Additions to Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science

The Libraries has purchased Collections Two and Three of the Morgan & Claypool Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science. The Digital Library contains over 300 lectures  about topics under research and development. The lectures are 50-100 pages in length, organized into over 40 series ranging from biomaterials to computer vision, quantum computing and tissue engineering. You can browse through lectures in the series or conduct keyword searches.

MADCAD for Building Resources

The libraries now have a subscription to MADCAD.com, a collection of building codes, directory of materials suppliers and collection of environmental scope reports. You can search the code book contents, or browse through product categories and reports.

Orlando: Women’s Writing in the British Isles

Orlando: Women’s Writing in the British Isles from the Beginnings to the Present is a new addition to the UMass Amherst Libraries databases collection. This resource provides biographical and bibliographic information of British women writers. You can search or browse by chronology, genre, place, occupation, name and more.

European Views of the Americas: 1493-1750

European Views of the Americas: 1493-1750 provides indexing of printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750. Ebsco has worked with the John Carter Brown Library to convert its print equivalent, “European Americana: A Chronological Guide to Works Printed In Europe Relating to The Americas, 1493-1750″ to an electronic bibliography.

Two New Political Science Databases

The Libraries now subscribe to Worldwide Political Science Abstracts and PQ Political Science, both from ProQuest. Worldwide Political Science Abstracts (WPSA) provides indexing and abstracts to the contents of over 1,500 serials, as well as books, book chapters, dissertations and work papers. As the title suggests, coverage is international. PQ Political Science provides full-text content of many of the core titles included in WPSA and 150 journals in all.

New Music Reference Work: Oxford History of Western Music

The Libraries now have the online version of the Oxford History of Western Music. Written by noted musicologist Richard Taruskin, this reference source traces the evolution of western classical music. You can browse through chapters covering 5 historical periods, or search for terms in full-text or chapter titles.
