Meet The Peer Mentors
Senior Peer Mentors
Fiona Jordan

Hi everyone!
My name is Fiona and I am from Milford, Massachusetts and one of your senior peer mentors! I am studying environmental science and minoring in business, combining my strong interests in environmental policy and sustainability. Last semester I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona! I had the best 4 months of my life being able to learn so much about different cultures and while continuing my studies. During my time at UMass, I have worked alongside one of our professors as a teaching assistant, overseeing an NRC Policy class. This experience allowed me to take on a leadership role through teaching. In my free time, I enjoy going on walks with friends, traveling, reality tv shows, and meeting new people. I also love to surf and I am on the E-board for the Umass Surf Club.
I have had such an incredible experience at UMass and the environmental science program so far. I became a peer advisor so I can assist, connect, and learn from incoming environmental science majors and make your UMass journey the best that it can be! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns, my email is fljordan@umass.edu.
Cameron Swart

Hi! I’m Cameron, and I’m a senior from Easton, Pennsylvania. I’m a double major in both Environmental Science and Earth Systems, and pursuing a certificate in the iCons Program. Last summer, I had the opportunity to work on Dr. Martin Hunter’s Biogas & Carbon Capture Research Project, and for the past year and a half, I have been completing Forest Service research with the Family Forest Research Center! I love hiking, being outdoors, and music! If you don’t find me in a classroom or lab, you can find me outside with a camera or practicing with the UMass Marching Band. If you have any questions about involvement, extracurriculars, or just want a study buddy, you can reach me at cswart@umass.edu! I can’t wait to meet you all!
Hannah Steinbrecher

Hi! I’m Hannah and I’m a senior peer mentor. I changed my major into the environmental science program my freshman year and have loved it so far – there are so many directions you can go and I hope to be a part of your journey. My primary interests at the moment lie water resource engineering where I am pursuing an honors thesis this year. I am also in the iCons certificate program on the Sustainable Energy and Materials track, completed a minor in architectural studies by participating in the Yestermorrow fall 2024 design/build program, and am a german minor. Outside of academics, I am a part of the Outing Club, the UMass club gymnastics competitive team, and I love traveling and trying new foods. Feel free to drop by my office hours or reach out via my email (hsteinbreche@umass.edu) if you have questions about research, domestic exchange, or just to chat about anything at all :))
Kayla Pacheco

My name is Kayla Pacheco, and I’m a senior from Fall River, Massachusetts. I’m majoring in Environmental Science with a specialization in wildlife conservation. I have a minor in Public Policy, and am currently on track to receive my Five College Coastal and Marine Science Certificate. I am also a community college transfer student from Bristol Community College! I have spent lots of time in research on campus, having completed my Honors Thesis in Allison Roy’s lab, where I participated in freshwater mussel conservation research as part of the co-op unit with the USGS here on campus. As a NOAA Hollings Scholar for the class of 2026, I spent this past summer at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center & Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, doing passive acoustics research with cetaceans in the Galápagos Islands. I love hiking and kayaking, I’m a horror movie fanatic, and I enjoy baking in my free time. I am currently away at Duke University’s Marine Lab for the Fall 2025 semester, but please reach out to me for anything you may want to talk about! You can reach me at kppacheco@umass.edu
Junior Peer Mentors
Eve Speredelozzi

Hi! I’m Eve and I’m a rising junior. I’m an honors environmental science major with a minor in plant and soil science! I switched into this major my sophomore year and I’ve had such an incredible time since. I have enjoyed how fulfilling it feels to make a difference for the environment that we all share. This fall I’m excited to start working in a research lab. Outside of studying I love to crochet and sell my creations at the UMass Farmers market alongside terrariums from my ever-growing collection of plants! I also spend time as the Zine Coordinator for Girl Up UMass Chapter and a member of the UMass Outdoors Club.
I’m very excited to meet everyone coming in this year! Feel free to reach out: esperedelozz@umass.edu
Maddie Dugas

Maddie is pursuing a minor in political science and has a strong interest in environmental law/justice. Maddie loves to hike and run. She is excited to help new incoming environmental science majors figure out their course plan and have an awesome time at UMass.
Billie Bernard

Billie is a junior environmental science major pursuing a dual degree with a BA in dance. She spent the summer as a research assistant in a soil ecology lab on the UMass campus and hopes to grow her research experience in potential areas of environmental health, biotech, or earth chemistry in years to come.
Audrey Fletcher

Hi everyone!
My name is Audrey Fletcher, and I’m from Westford, Massachusetts. I’m in my junior year majoring in Environmental Science, and I’m also working towards the GIST certificate! I am interested in hydrology, human influences on the water system, and habitat conservation. This summer, I got to work with the Lexington Conservation department and learn about native ecology, invasive plant management, and local conservation efforts! Outside of academics, I like to be involved with music on campus. I’ve played viola in the UMass symphony orchestra for three semesters, and this year I am the flute section leader of the Marching Band! I also enjoy biking, fiber arts, and hiking. Feel free to reach out with questions about EnviSci, UMass, or just to chat! My email is aefletcher@umass.edu 🙂
Daphne Lamb

Daphne is a junior environmental science major from the Berkshires of Western Mass with a focus area in environmental conservation. She transferred to UMass last year and did an internship in wetland deliniation. Outside of academics, she is part of the outdoors club, ski and board club, and is excited about joining bee keeping club!
