Dear CNS Post-docs and Graduate Students,
Want to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals?
Had a blast teaching workshops for the Girls Inc Eureka! program?
Want to strengthen the presence of women in the STEM pipeline?

Become a Virtual STEM Mentor for Girls Inc Eureka Girls!

girls-inc-experience-wheelThe Virtual STEM Mentoring project has been developed by the Graduate Women in STEM (GWIS) graduate student organization and Girls Inc. of Holyoke and is an extension of the Eureka! program launched by Girls Inc. and the College of Natural Sciences. The goal of this project is to strengthen the STEM pipeline for the young women involved in the Eureka! program by going beyond the one-time impact of the workshop series. The Virtual Mentoring program will create personal connections between Eureka! participants (middle school girls from Holyoke) and UMass graduate students, post-docs, and faculty in STEM fields through weekly mentoring via online media.

Mentors will utilize blogging, email, and social media platforms maintained by Girls Inc. and GWIS to dialogue with Eureka! participants on topical STEM ideas, and will have the opportunity for occasional in-person meetings with mentees.
