GWIS LinkedIn Photo Shoot

The academic year is in full swing and many students are now thinking about their next step. Whether you plan to pursue a career in academia or explore the worlds of industry, chances are that you will use LinkedIn to connect to recruiters and to apply to jobs. Chances also are that your LinkedIn photograph isn’t of professional quality, because who has access to a professional photographer as a graduate student?

Bad LinkedIn profiles are a problem and GWIS is out to fix them! To do this, we’re hosting a two hour photoshoot for members, akin to picture day in elementary school (except we are now much older and can pick out our own outfits). Registration is required and the cost per person is $15 for 4 pictures (two poses with and without editing – digital copies only). The cost of the photoshoot will go to paying the photographer for her time and equipment (the talented Ify Arinze will be taking our pictures, check out here portfolio here: http://www.eternityboundphoto.com/). Each person will have 3 minutes for the photoshoot and space is limited, so register early!

Need convincing? Check out this article citing pictures as top two mistakes people make on LinkedIn and this study showing that recruiters spend %19 of the time they review your profile on your picture alone. LinkedIn photos are important, so let’s make sure that ours are up to snuff!
