The GQM Team is Back in Action!

After a hiatus, the GWIS Quarterly Magazine (GQM) team is excited to bring you our newest issue, AcademyTM! Inside, we’ve gathered some perspectives from authors both old and new which tackle some of the issues surrounding the emotional repackaging that many women undergo as a result of the academic environment. In our last issue, The Unspoken Academic Lessons, we tried to push the boundaries of what we’ve addressed before by tackling some difficult and personal topics. We hope that we’ve pushed them even farther this time, bringing you articles that challenge the status quo of the STEM academia framework and how women navigate within it.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this issue! You can reach us at gwis@grad.umass.edu.

Also, keep an eye out for our annual special edition coming this winter, where we will publish data and stories shared by our members about a sensitive but pressingly important topic which GWIS is committed to addressing here at UMass and in our broader community. You can still contribute by filling out our survey here. (TRIGGER WARNING: This form will ask you about your personal experiences with sexual misconduct and may be triggering.)

Want to write for GQM? The communications committee is always looking for passionate people with diverse perspectives to contribute to our publication and we would love to have you! Email gwis@grad.umass.edu with the header “Communications” to learn more or attend our next meeting on Tuesday, November 1, at 5 pm in Goessman 252 (GWIS HQ).

Happy Reading!
