SPARK Continues to Grow: Fall 2008 Numbers

spark-help.gifSPARK popularity continues to grow with even more instructors using it for Fall 2008. There are currently 772 instructors using SPARK  this semester, up from 532 in Spring 2008. Also exciting to note is that 81 departments represented  (we’ve been seeing a lot of new faces in the Instructional Media Lab and our SPARK workshops!)

So far there are 1,128 Fall courses in SPARK, so a good number instructors are using SPARK for more than one class. In total there are 63,009 “student seats” in SPARK, representing 21,038 unique students. As you can see the average student has several SPARK courses. The largest class in SPARK has 622 students with a few classes tied for smallest at 1 student each.

Requests for new SPARK courses continue to roll in and the new system of requesting SPARK courses through SPIRE has played a critical role in helping us keep up with this increased demand.

If you’re just getting started with SPARK remember that you can always contact our Instructional Media Lab (545-2823) for assistance. You can also check out our schedule of upcoming workshops.

Academic Computing is planning a few SPARK Community of Practice Lunches for later in the semester so hopefully we’ll see some of you there.
