Do you grade exclusively with letters and wish Moodle didn’t require you to enter numeric grade values then set them to display as letters?
Did you know that there’s a new feature in Moodle that lets you enter or upload alphabetical letter grades into a manually created column in the Moodle Gradebook?
This is especially useful for instructors who don’t use the Moodle Gradebook to calculate grades, but calculate letter grades in a spreadsheet. Once you have entered or uploaded final grades for a course into Moodle, you can then go to SPIRE and import the grades from Moodle into your grade roster during the grade-entry period.
Note: To import letter grades, you must first create a new grade item and set it to the “Letter grade” type. You can then import letter grades into that column. Finally, you need to give the Course Total column a formula to pull the grades from the Letter Grade column into the Course Total column. For full instructions, see Letter Grades in Moodle.
