The i>clicker audience response system is a polling system that uses a handheld remote (clicker) to collect student responses to questions posed by the instructor. Student data is recorded and then displayed on a results graph via software on the instructor’s computer.
i>clicker software versions 6.4.1 and earlier utilize a security communication protocol that could cause issues with learning management system (LMS) integration (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard). To address this potential security vulnerability, i>clicker has issued an updated version of the i>clicker software, v6.4.2.

What You Need to Know
- If you are using i>clicker with Moodle, you should follow the 2-step update process (below).
- Even If you are not using i>clicker with a learning management system, i>clicker recommends updating to i>clicker v6.4.2.
- If you are using Moodle, and you do not currently have i>clicker v6.4.1 (or earlier) installed on your computer, you do not need to take any action.
- If you are downloading i>clicker from the IT Website, you will receive the updated software, v6.4.2.
What You Need to Do
Update your i>clicker version 6.4.1(or earlier) to v6.4.2 by completing the 2-step update process:
Step 1: Update Your i>clicker Resources Folder
- Download the new i>clicker integration files from https://www.oit.umass.edu/audience-response-system:
Mac OSX: i>clicker-Mac-New-Resource-Files.zip
Windows: i>clicker-Windows-New Resource Files.zip - Unzip the .zip file , and open the New Resources Files folder.
- ??Open the i>clicker software folder on your computer. Locate the i>clicker Resources folder, click to open it.
- Copy and paste, or drag, the files from the New Resources Files folder into the i>clicker Resources folder. Follow the system prompts to Replace the files.:
Mac OSX (2 files): CMS Integrate Wizard and Config.Xml
Windows (2 files, 1 folder): CMS Integrate Wizard, Config.Xml, and the CMS Integrate Wizard Libs folder
Step 2: Update i>clicker Software to v6.4.2
- Go to the i>clicker software folder on your computer. Double click WebUpdate.
- Select the checkbox for the “i>clicker v6.4.2” update. Click Download Update(s).
- (Optional, but recommended.) Select Archive Now to save a copy of your pre-update data, and select a location to save the archive. If you do not want to archive your pre-upgrade data, select Skip.
- Follow any prompts to finish the update.
