The 5th Walk and Roll for Stroke and Aphasia Awareness was held on

The 3rd Annual Walk and Roll for Aphasia was a HUGE SUCCESS!!!

Donations totalled over $4,000 and will be put to good use in continuing programs

to further aphasia awareness, outreach, education and research.

A HEARTFELT THANKS to

Jeri, Jess, Chelsey, Julia, Jenna, & Christina for their committed efforts to pull it off without a hitch;

Officer Mark W for supporting the event;

Ingrid for being our fearless spokeswoman;

Donna D, Linda L, and Tim A for their phenomenal fundraising skills;

The 3rd Annual Walk and Roll for Aphasia will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012. This Walk for Community Outreach / Aphasia Awareness will start on the Amherst Commons. Register in advance (download forms below) and/or bring with you on the day of the walk. This 2.6 mile walk through downtown and on campus will begin at 11am, rain or shine. Registration starts at 10am. Music, refreshments, raffle following the walk on the Amherst Commons.

The 2nd Annual Walk and Roll for Aphasia was a GREAT SUCCESS, attracting well over a hundred people from the community and the university, and raising public awareness about stroke and aphasia as well as funds for aphasia research.

MANY THANKS to the graduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders, including the coordinators of this year’s Walk (Jackie Venezia, Cara Sullo, Donna Rhicard, Alicia Kellogg, Caitlin Almeida, and Alex Schauffele), to the UMass Police for their invaluable assistance (thank you Mark & James), and to the businesses who contributed food/water (Whole Foods, Bruegger’s Bagels, Atkins Farms, and Big Y) and to all the Walkers and their sponsors!
