Last week, many of you had a chance to poke around in Dreamweaver. For today’s tech task, we’ll jump back in.
- Set up your site in Dreamweaver (go to Site > New Sites). You’ll need to create a new folder on the desktop (or on your USB drive, if it will let you). All of the files for your website will go in this folder; this includes images, web page files ending in .html, and any external style sheets (CSS files) you choose to use.
- Create a new web page for your site. I recommend choosing one of the templates to work from (some of you experimented with these last week). Alternately, you can try downloading a free CSS template from a site like this. Either way, choose a design that you think will work well for the project you have in mind.
- Once you’ve completed the tasks above, you can begin customizing your page. You might try adding an image (here’s a sample image, taken from flickr), adding your own content (even if it is just placeholder content for now), adding links, and so on.
- Be sure to save your work to your USB drive before leaving the lab. Make sure you save/copy the web folder you created and all of its contents.
