Readings and such for the weekend

Hi 530 students,

Well the first week of classes is in the bag, for Kin 530 anyway. Before next Tuesday you should do the text readings for the Math Review and 2D kinematics (see the back page of your syllabus), and also read the Hamill et al. 1992 paper that is posted on the website. You should also work on the first part of Assignment 1, also posted on the website. And if you want more detail on some of the mathematics, check out the “extra” math notes on the website, courtesy of our friend and colleague Jeff Gagnon, from Springfield College. If you don’t want more details, don’t read Jeff’s notes, as they are optional and you won’t be tested on them at any point.

At this point I have invited everyone in the class to join the discussion board on Google Groups; if you haven’t received an invitation by the end of the weekend, send me an e-mail and I will try another method of getting you in the group. The invitations seem to go out slowly, and the replies back also seem to spend time in Latvia or New Zealand [in a cafe perhaps?] before arriving back on my e-desk.  Hopefully we will get this all sorted soon.

Have a great weekend …. cheers.   GC
