Friday April 13th is a Lucky day?

Hi Kin 535,

The section concerning time-dependent effects of contractile history on the CC’s ability to produce force got off to an excellent start yesterday, IMHO.  For the weekend (OK, before the next class which is Thursday of next week, April 19), you should read the latter 2 papers in the section on the Reading Materials page of the website titled Force Enhancement:

Chapman et al., 1985

van Ingen Schenau et al., 1997

The lucky part of Friday the 13th? Well, it is a beauty day outside, the start of a long weekend, and those who needed extra time on Lab 2 have until Tuesday to put your lab in my mailbox in the Kinesiology main office, Totman 110. As an added bonus of luckiness, I just posted the 3rd and final MusMod2006 lab, in which you can  compare concentric force production initiated either from rest or with a prior eccentric stretching phase. This comparison in lab 3 is a linear version of the Chapman et al (1985) experiment, so reading that paper first will help when doing the MusMod2006 lab.

Have a great weekend, see you in class next week…… Dr. C.
