Emily Loane (Undergraduate Research Assistant)
Laboratory for the Scientific Study of Dance (LAB:SYNC) congratulates Research Assistant Emily Loane, who is the recipient of an award from the United Association Scholarship Fund for outstanding personal achievement, academic standing, and community participation. Loane’s essay submitted for this prize focused on healthcare access and coverage for employees, as well as the rising cost of education for skilled workers.
Karisma Pathak (LAB:SYNC Alumn)
Laboratory for the Scientific Study of Dance (LAB:SYNC) celebrates alumn Karisma Pathak’s acceptance into medical school. Pathak is currently a first-year student at Kansas City University College of Orthostatic Medicine and has been elected the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists Student Organization representative for the class of 2026. Pathak hopes to continue to study belly dancing and birth while completing her medical degree at KCU.
Marcos A. Amalbert-Birriel (Graduate Research Assistant)
Laboratory for the Scientific Study of Dance (LAB:SYNC) celebrates graduate research assistant Marcos Amalbert-Birriel in the announcement of his selection as a 2022 fellow of the National Institutes of Health-funded Yale Ciencia Academy (YCA) for Career Development. He joins only 16 other candidates from the United States and Puerto Rico for the year long program recognizing, empowering, and creating access for PhD candidates who are working to make science more inclusive.
