Symbiotic algae for Exaiptasia

Symbiodinium microadriaticum from Bigelow. See special starter culture instructions

Culture them in F/2 at 22C in the growth chamber with constant lowest level light.

Keep sterile!

Monthly subcultures:

• Asceptically put 50 mL F/2 in each of 3 sterile 125 mL flasks
• Innoculate with 1 mL of a month-old culture
• Keep 2 unopened old cultures as back up
• Wash the opened 1 month old and the unused 2 month old flasks with 1M HCl, then rinse many times with tap water. Finish with RO water
• Hang to dry, then cap and autoclave.
