Logical vocabulary & historical change

Moreno Mitrovi? asked us to publicize a Call for Papers for a workshop on Logical Vocabulary and Historical Change at the 23rd International Conference on Historical Linguistics in San Antonio (July 31 – August 4, 2017). The deadline for submission of abstracts is December 1st. The organizers are not only looking for papers by historical linguists, but also for work by semanticists and syntacticians who take a cross-linguistic perspective and have worked on the connectives and and or and their appearance in quantifier constructions that might be polarity or focus sensitive, or have free choice interpretations. Moreno’s (stunning) website has several examples of papers that illustrate the kind of work that would fit into this workshop (see e.g. his paper on decomposing conjunction, which he wrote with Uli Sauerland).
