The Linguistics Minor consists of five linguistics courses.
- LINGUIST 201 How Language Works: Introduction to Linguistic Theory (R2)
- LINGUIST 301 Introduction to Syntax OR LINGUIST 302 Fundamentals of Speech Sounds (formerly LINGUIST 390A)
- Two Linguistics department courses at the 300-level or above.
- One Linguistics department course at the 400-level or above.
Notes on the Minor:
- All five courses must be taken for a letter grade and completed with a grade of at least a C.
- Courses from other departments may NOT be substituted.
- If you take both LINGUIST 301 and LINGUIST 302, then one of the two will count as your required 301/302 course and the other will count as one of your two additional 300+ courses.

Declaring your linguistics minor
You declare your linguistics minor by filling out the minor declaration Google form. The minors advisor will be in touch and send you an e-mail letting you know that your minor has been added to your record. You should then be able to see the linguistics minor appear in SPIRE on your record.
