Record the following words into Praat, in the “Say ___” context.
spit pit bit
spat pat bat
spay pay bay
Splice the words out from the frame, and remove the [s] from each of the first three words. Make a single file with the words in random order, with 2 sec. of silence separating each one. Save your word sequence as a .wav or an .aiff file. Ask a friend (preferably native English speaking) to listen to them, and write down a “p” or a “b” for each one.
1. Submit the experimental data by filling out the form linked here.
2. Send to the course e-mail address:
a. Your .wav or .aiff file containing the sequence of words.
b. A few sentences describing the similarities and differences between what you see in the waveform for the “p” of the spliced “s” words vs. the “p” and “b” of the other words.
