Math 011 Elementary Algebra Course Information

***

Math 011 is Beginning Algebra enhanced with a Prealgebra review of fractions, factors, decimals and percents. Topics include real numbers, equations, inequalities, problem solving, polynomials, factoring, graphing liner equations and inequalities, systems of equations, roots and radicals, and quadratic equations. The electronic text is Beginning Algebra, 5th ed. By Elayn Martin-Gay, and comes with the on-line student learning system MyMathLab.

The course E-Text, video lectures, and homework are all accessed through the online homework and tutorial system MyMathLab, which you will purchase online at a cost considerably less that if you were to purchase the text alone from a bookstore. The text is an electronic text, and is included in the MyMathLab. I didn’t want you to put out any more money than necessary….these online courses are expensive enough.

This course does not qualify for University of Massachusetts graduation credit, but does count 3 credits weight towards your course load for student status, and it does satisfy the UMass Amherst R1 general education math requirement. Check with your college to see if it does award credit, such as at the Stockbridge School.
