7. Do I have to attend lectures?

You are not required to attend lecture during class time and no part of your grade is tied to your presence in our class. However, I strongly encourage you to attend class and take notes on the material along with me. That way, if you have any questions you can ask as you’re learning the material in class. I will also be posting my lectures in video format on the course Moodle page for those of you who cannot attend lecture or for those of you who might just want to see a concept a second time.

When in lecture (or watching lecture videos), I highly recommend you put your music devices, cell phones, etc. away and give the instruction your full attention. Just sitting in class (or playing videos) won’t necessarily equate to learning. For example, if you are sitting in class but are texting, surfing, chatting, or dozing off, you may find you haven’t learned all that you should have if you had been really paying full attention.
