We will be using a Blackboard website for the course material and an online homework system called WileyPLUS to complete assignments and exams. Here are two pictures – the one on the left is an example of the main page of the Blackboard website and the one on the right is a picture of the main page of the WileyPLUS homework site.
On the Blackboard website there will be, among other things, folders titled “Week #1”, “Week #2”, etc. In each of these folders, you will find my lecture videos for the material you should learn that week as well as instructions to complete assignments and exams corresponding to those lectures. My lectures will contain examples I believe will help you learn the material and complete assignments and exams. You also have all the resources contained in your WileyPLUS account as well as the internet to augment these lecture videos. Below is a picture of a typical weekly folder from the Blackboard website:
Homework assignments and exams are assigned, completed and graded in your WileyPLUS account (see the Textbook and Homework page). Due dates for these are in your WileyPLUS account.
All lecture videos, assignments and exams are open and available on the first day of the course. This means you can move at a pace that suits you – as long as you meet deadlines. i.e. you can work ahead of schedule but there are deadlines and you won’t want to work slower than the stated schedule. So if you have a light work week and want to get a little ahead because you know you have a heavy work week the next week, that would be okay. You can work on things at your pace as long as you meet the deadlines. You will be able to see the deadlines for all homework assignments and exams on the first day of the course.
At the end of the course you will be required to take an in-person, multiple choice (no partial credit) cumulative final exam. It is very important that you are aware of this grading policy for this course before you register. Please see the Quizzes and Final Exam page for this course before you register.
You must achieve a grade of at least a 50% on the final exam in order to pass the course.
